Hello! I’m John and I’ve been an Approved Driving Instructor for 4 years, having trained initially with BSM / AA Driving School and then setting up my own business JH Driver Training. I very much enjoy teaching people to drive and supporting them on their journey to becoming confident and responsible drivers, opening up new opportunities for their work and travel as a result.

Before becoming a driving instructor, I spent more than 20 years as a volunteer instructor with the Cadet Forces, supporting young people in their personal development and helping them nurture their full potential. Combined with over 30 years of driving experience, I believe this helps me support my learners of all ages and abilities with their driving goals and ambitions. I am often complimented on my patient and reassuring approach during lessons which fosters a calm and enjoyable environment in which to learn at their own pace. I have a good deal of experience working with pupils with anxiety and learning difficulties such as ADHD and Autism and find it particularly rewarding seeing them grow and achieve, overcoming their own personal challenges along the way.

I am married with four children and, when not working, I enjoy spending time with them in the great outdoors, hillwalking (particularly in the Lake District) and have recently joined a local archery club. All good fun!
